I find that children learn better in a group : I call this "Monkey See, Monkey Do" ( They'll mimic any action you perform. When adults do a demo, they're less likely to mimic the action because they're probably thinking, "You're so big, I'm so small. I can't do it!" However, if other children are doing the same thing, kids are more motivated to try it. Sometimes, my friend's children comes along for sessions as a demo to other children. It usually works.
The reason why my students stick to my swimming lessons is because I give students and parents flexibility. Unlike swim schools, individual instructors like me don't subscribe rigid policies that sometimes frustrate parents.
Each child will receive an interactive Progression Book, complete with stickers that are applied according to each skill successfully completed in the lesson. I will set small goals for each lesson and offer rewards for modules / skills successfully completed introduces a sense of achievement that motivates children to progress to a higher level in my Training Programme which also keeps Parents / Guardians informed about what's being accomplished in the lessons.
